One thing that stands out in any novel is the author putting us in the action and making us feel what is going on in the moment. I think that makes this book sound so much more appealing. And the battle between humans and AI is just going to gain more and more ground as advancements are made. Nice review, S.L.

Thanks for this. You have piqued my interest in this book.

(But maybe do a global search for Woundenberg and get rid of the first "n"?)

I read this book when it first came out about two years ago and loved it. You reminded me that I should dust it off again because it has so many good lessons in it.

Great review, and very much matches my experience. I loved the book and think about it a lot as we continue to see AI evolve.

Great insight and critique. I intentionally played with 'thin' supporting characters and learned they need a little more meat on their bones. There's a large supporting cast as well. Hopefully, I did a little better with Integration, which has a more focused character set.

I'm looking forward to reading Integration!

The really big challenge with Integration is that it follows the AI, meaning any conversation between characters has to be pulled into a 'simulation' to actually do the 'show don't tell.' In reality, the conversations would be super fast, silent, and digital so it was interesting trying to make it more real! 😆

Would people sound different if you couldn't physically hear their voice? Or rather, if we heard each other through thought. How would you gauge someone's emotions?

I didn't get into sound, but I did get into looks. When you no longer have a bod,y what does male, female, black, white, asian, or any of it mean? Should it mean something? Is it important?
