Sharon Stories is the place to find fiction by S.L. Stallings. From micro-fiction, flash fiction, short stories, to serial fiction, and genres including paranormal, tech horror, sci-fi, and dystopia. I publish first drafts here. As many writers on the platform, I feel free to experiment with form and style.

Sharon Stories offers a free monthly newsletter with links to new stories, recent news, and recommended Substacks, so subscribers can pick and choose what they want to read.

*You can subscribe to my other Substacks separately or wait for monthly updates in the Feed Your Head free newsletter.

Table of Contents

Notes: Substack’s version of social media.

Micro-Fiction: Tiny tales up to 500 words.

Short Stories: Flash fiction (up to 1000 words) and short fiction up to 5,000 words. *I typically post stories and episodes of 1000 words or less. So, a short story of 5,000 words will be 5 episodes.

Ghost Stories: Paranormal Horror is a separate Substack focusing on paranormal activity—ghostly sightings, locations infested by lost souls, and haunted objects. You get the picture.

The Truth About Sadie Wilkins

Sadie recalls early memories of ‘the knowing’ and ‘the seeing.’

No one believes her.

It’s no wonder. Who would believe a 13-year-old with an overactive imagination claiming a demon had possessed her Daddy and then compelled him to kill her Mama—much less that a ghost with unfinished business had helped her get rid of it?

Agents of Chaos

What if AI agents worked together to create a new world order where humans were no longer in control?

I’m fascinated by immersive, cross-genre storytelling utilizing mixed media, including handmade and digital props, experimental audio, and video. I weave stories, such as The Ninth Harmonic (fiction inspired by Theosophy, Hilma af Klint, and The Five), through sight, sound, and first-person accounts. Opt-In is a tech horror series, about a sentient AI with a dark sense of humor, while Agents of Chaos is a resistance tale coded in magic, music, and quilt patterns.

AI Policy

This Substack is human-made, shaped by curiosity, creativity, and the messy joy of trusting the process. Sometimes, I use AI tools as part of that process—not to replace my work but to support it.

I use AI for things like:

  • Organizing ideas and outlining

  • Exploring alternate angles

  • Clarifying structure or flow

  • Research

  • Focus

  • Feedback

I believe writers and artists should be free to explore the tools that work for them. That includes AI—and it also includes the choice not to use it.

We don’t need to gatekeep the creative process. We need to stay curious and accountable and keep using our imaginations.

Much Love,

S.L.
