I was going to send this out last Sunday, but alas I was buried in other writing work so I couldn’t give the newsletter my full attention. Now that I’ve completed the tedious stuff, I get to do what I love! First, goodbye to the summer that never happened here in Long Beach, Washington. The temps peeped over 70° once. We had warmer days in Spring and hopefully will in October (it’s happened before). I have a feeling we’re going to have a drier and warmer winter than usual, but maybe that’s just wishful thinking. Either way, fall is my favorite time of year. Today is gorgeous, sunny, and 65°.
Anyhoo, let’s catch up on the writing, shall we? I’ve been updating all of my work and adding information to the titles. Now, the titles will include the genre (usually tech horror, dystopia, or paranormal fiction) and length (serial, short story, or microfiction).

August 1st was day number 214 of 2024. I was excited when I promised to start posting a prompt each week from the big list of a prompt a day I posted on New Year’s Day. After a few weeks, I realized I needed to rethink the writing prompt posts to inspire people to write. I’m still in the development stage on this one, so I’m going to let it drop for a while. If you’ve written a story for one of the prompts, please let me know and send me a link! I’m also switching up the locations on the Writers’ Bingo card. Where do you go to write? If you have any ideas, I’d love to collaborate!
I’ve discovered there are lots of publications on Substack already pumping out prompts, and I’m having tons of fun writing from them. Reedsy is another platform that inspires fiction writing. MuseConnect is the story that manifested with the first prompt I from Reedsy.
Short Story

Microfiction and short stories are so much fun to write and not as intimidating as pumping out episodes for serials.
The Fiction Dealer posted my latest microfiction in Batch #27.
I worked on two serials for most of the summer and dropped a new one on September 20th. Episode 1 of Opt-In, SŌSH is a tech horror series I’m adapting from a screenplay. I need to revise the screenplay, so I decided to tell myself the story with a narrative and work through the revisions as I go.
Serial Fiction
I published Episode 2 on Tuesday (and accidentally emailed it, too!). Episode 3 went out on Fiction Friday. Did you see it? So far, this is a fan favorite!

Agents of Chaos is the first book in The Shift serial.
I created a Table of Contents for Agents of Chaos and The Truth About Sadie Wilkins to make navigating them easier. I’ll get one up for Opt-In this week.
The Truth About Sadie Wilkins, Book 1: East Shady Grove Cemetery, has ten episodes in serial format. We’re currently on episode seven. Look for episode eight on Fiction Friday, 10/4/24.

I’m also splitting off the writing craft articles and memoirs into separate Substacks. Moving forward, Feed Your Head is dedicated to paranormal fiction, tech horror, psychological horror, dystopian fiction, micro-fiction, and short stories. I’ll also continue developing serials for print. Check out the About Page for updates.
One last thing. Feed Your Head now has swag!
