I’m thrilled to report I’ve finished the final draft for The Creative Company. What an eye-opening experience. Working with a small publisher brings back memories of working in family-owned restaurants for decades—lots of drama. However, I feel secure that I will get paid by the first, as promised, and I will write many more books. My editor is excellent at her job, and the revisions she gave me ensure I’ve produced a manuscript worth buying.
Print publishing feels like a much slower pace than content writing. Content writers have to produce consistently, putting out many thousands of words per week. They also get paid more (from what I’ve seen so far) than writers working for small publishing companies. I imagine all that changes if a writer has a best-selling book. I’d love to know how that feels! The truth is, if you write or create any art, for that matter, it has to be more about passion than money. Getting paid is the frosting on the cake. I like fro…
