Greetings Friends!
Sharon here, bringing you week eight of "Feed Your Head." I'm grateful to have this time with you! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Last week, I asked for your help deciding which new logo to use for my Substack. The iteration above won, thanks to feedback from one of my favorite writers on Substack, Daniel W. Davison, who said:
Regarding your “Feed Your Head” experiments, I really like the one with the “white rabbit” superimposed against the head. It looks very Secessionist, and kind of reminds me of Alphonse Mucha’s art.
I agree, and "Secessionist" certainly fits my personality. Also, Daniel's astute observation of the style really won me over.
New Serial Fiction
I added a page to the navigation bar for my serial sci-fi dystopia, "The Shift." This fiction was inspired by the movie "Children of Men," Walter Mosely's "Futureland," and my infatuation with technology.
The story's theme revolves around technology advancements in which tech goes haywire. Technology, humans, and nature are pitted against one another in this dystopian world.
My protagonist, Gabby (Gabriella), represents the dystopian hero's journey archetype in that her goal at first is to save her twin brother, which turns into a drive to help save humanity. But she's only human, so she has to win the war with her inner demons simultaneously.
There are several intersecting storylines, so I plan to slowly introduce the world before "The Shift" as Gabby's quest develops.

SŌSH
This week, I had a small win with my short screenplay, SŌSH. It wasn't the win I'd hoped for, but them's the breaks, ey?
Still, the new rating and getting added to Coverfly's Red List helped renew my enthusiasm for this project. If you're a paid subscriber, you can read the script on "Feed Your Head" and follow along as I refine and polish it. I will also demonstrate how to use ChatGPT as a script doctor. I'm keeping this one under a paywall because it's in development for production. I'll send out a separate newsletter to the paid subscribers. Thank you so much for helping me make these dreams a reality!
Once the short film is finished, I plan to pitch the T.V. series, using the short film as a proof of concept. I'm actively seeking funding to produce the film. There'll be a Kickstarter campaign sometime in 2024.
Special Guest
In lieu of a special guest this week on "Feed My Head," I want to share a guest post from one of my favorite Substacks for creatives, "Create Me Free." Collaboration is alive and well on this platform. As you can see, I'm not the only one supporting fellow creatives. Kathryn Vercillo introduced me to another Substack that has already proven to be a source of inspiration.
"I Am Happy" is an excellent Substack for exploring creative outlets of self-expression and what it means to be happy. Plus, knowing I'm not the only one with ADHD, anxiety, and depression challenges makes me feel less alone. I hope this finds people who will benefit from Allegra Chapman's insights as well.
A Special Offer for You
I'm offering the Fanciful Crows coloring pages as a 30-page PDF download for $5.00. (Not for resale). This offer is only available to subscribers of "Feed Your Head." The soft-cover coloring book is scheduled for release on Amazon, and I'll let you know as soon as it's available. It's $9.95. It will make a beautiful Christmas present for anyone who likes fantasy art.
The Fanciful Crows coloring book is part of the swag I'm producing to accompany the serial. You'll find products on Printify and Amazon at Mystic Sadie.
Read "The Truth About Sadie Wilkins" now on Substack and Kindle Vella. The first three episodes are free on both platforms.
That's it for now! Until next week —
Much Love,
Sharon
Thank you so much for sharing my post! And you're certainly not alone!
“Children of Men” is also a great book. It was written by P.D. James, who was a masterful mystery writer in the vein of Agatha Christie. As far as I know, “Children of Men” was her only foray into sci-fi.
