My editor at The Creative Company acknowledged receipt of the draft and said she’d have feedback for me by the end of the week. Well, I haven’t received any feedback on the book yet. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised because it’s a lot of information! Plus, they just finalized all of the new titles for 2024. My book (part of a series) is on the 2025 roster.
Now, excuse me while I whine a bit. Being a creative person is a tough way to go when I’m the only source of income. I point this out because once my draft is approved, I get to invoice. Then the company has 30 days to pay me. That means I will likely not get compensation until April. I hope to get additional book contracts, and with diligence, it will eventually become an income stream. But I have to say, it’s a tough life, and I wonder sometimes why I do it. Then I remember that it’s not so much a choice as a deep drive to create. It’s who I’ve always been, even when I tried to fit in and work a “real job.”
