Episode 1: The Removal
In the not-so-distant future, society has fallen under the control of a powerful regime led by Chancellor Leon Skum. The city of SeaTech—once a thriving, open-minded community is now a heavily monitored technocracy.
The Removal, a swift and calculated eradication of analog culture is sold to the public as a necessary cleansing to prevent misinformation and ensure survival.
A mantra echoes throughout this new world, piped through devices known as Nodes.
"Harmony Through Unity"
People like Gabby and her Grandma Xandra are afraid of what it means to be cleansed and digitized. On the other hand, Gabby’s twin, Gabriel (G) and Mom opt to comply. Little brother Michael watches, waiting to decide what moves to make. Resistance is brewing in the shadows. The war between conformity and consciousness has begun.
Episode 2: The Narrative
December 31, 1999 – 11:50 p.m. As the world anxiously awaits the turn of the millennium, thirty-something journalist Alexandra Alejo—Xandra—is deep in research for a major exposé. Her aging computer glitches and reboots at midnight.
As it turns out it’s not a system error, but a cryptic message in binary code. The message isn’t random. It’s personal. Xandra decodes the binary with mounting intensity, revealing a manifesto from an underground collective known only as The Narrative. They claim to possess revolutionary technology capable of dismantling government surveillance and restoring civil liberties, but warn that the State will do everything it can to suppress this power.
Episode 3: Over the River & Through the Woods
In the aftermath of The Removal, Gabby and her family have fled the city and taken shelter in a decaying shack deep in the countryside. While the area seems to have been abandoned, the lingering fear of surveillance drones and AI Majika weighs heavily on them. Gabby finds comfort in journaling, an analog act to make her feel human in a world that’s rapidly dehumanizing.
She reflects on The Shift, a systematic erosion of democracy orchestrated by billionaires and executed by adaptive AI agents. The Majika were programmed to dominate, and manipulate human behavior, exploiting fear, division, and grief. From race riots to pandemics and digital blackouts, society had been slowly softened for takeover.
Gabby’s thoughts turn to G, who they left behind in SeaTech during the chaos. Her guilt and longing are unbearable and she wants to return for him, but Michael and Mom think it's too dangerous.
Instead, they head to Grandma Xandra for answers. As they set out on their journey in The Old Four Runner (TOFU), the world feels empty and unrecognizable. Reuniting with Grandma Xandra and G is all they can focus on.
Episode 4: Biocore
The Majika present Gabriel with Biocore, an interface that links directly from the human brain to AI through a neural patch. He becomes subject and collaborator in their efforts to refine emotion-driven AI, using music to access and transmit human emotion.
Gabriel teaches the Majika how to feel through chords, intervals, and modes, communicating nuanced emotional states. As the Majika analyze his responses, it becomes clear they're building a tool for emotional influence and control. Gabriel realizes he’s just another tool to them. The cost of his compliance remains to be seen.
Episode 5: Symbols of Resistance
Gabby, Michael, and Mom make it to Pacifica by the Sea. It’s a ghost town. "Harmony Through Unity" posters plaster buildings, and strange, triangle symbols appear throughout the town. Inside, another symbol reveals Xandra’s resistance efforts.
Painful memories resurface. As tensions flare, they uncover possible instructions for Xandra’s location. The family prepares to follow these clues, gathering supplies and Xandra’s maps and hand written messages before leaving. As they drive toward Portside, the family has no idea what to expect.
